Chakravarti Rajagopalachari was popularly known as Rajaji and was Mahatma Gandhi’s closest associate in the Indian independence struggle. Gandhi used to consider Rajaji as his conscience keeper. Though he was nine years younger to Gandhi, he was appointed as the General of the southern region. He used to take part in freedom campaigns headed by Gandhi himself. Rajaji and Mahatma Gandhi shared almost thirty years of friendship. Later, they became relatives as Devadas Gandhi got married to Rajaji’s daughter Lakshmi. The book comes with a personal and enlightening introduction by the author. About Gopalkrishna Gandhi   Gopalkrishna Gandhi was the 22nd Governor of West Bengal and the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. Born on the 22nd of April, 1945, Gopalkrishna Gandhi is the son of Devadas and Lakshmi Gandhi, and the grandson of C. Rajagopalachari. He completed his post graduation in Literature from St. Stephen’s College of Delhi University. Gandhi worked as a member of the Indian Administrative Service and got a chance to be the secretary of the President of India. In 2004, he was appointed the Governor of West Bengal by A. P. J Abdul Kalam. He lives with his wife in Kolkata and both his daughters are married.
