My Life, My Work is a storehouse of information about one of the most interesting phases of Orissas history which makes fascinating reading because of the inimitable style of the author. That one man can lead such a fulfilling life and can be engaged in a myriad of activities simultaneously is indeed revealing. There seems never an inactive moment in the life he led. Justice Harihar Mahapatra was a multifaceted personality. By profession, an advocate, he also served as a Judge in the Patna High Court for a long period. He was neither in active politics nor did he subscribe to any particular viewpoint. But he had the ability to carry most people with himself. He was a resourceful person with a great deal of confidence in his own abilities. He spurned a Lok Sabha seat when it was offered to him in a platter. Yet he was actively associated with every aspect of political and social life of Orissa during his time.
