The main brief of the Institute was to provide sports coaches and training of national teams for international copetitions. Today, when the Institute is well past its Golden jubilee year, it can be said with surety that the Institute has lived upto the wxpectations of the people who conceived it . Indian sport is, at present, at the treshold of anew era of success at the international sports arena : and the contribution made by the Institute has been quite considerable to this visible positive turn around.
