This book is a poetic window into a transformative experience in retrospect. Transformation happens when we are truly seen, for in the light of absolute acceptance, the parts of us that we run from become less intimidating. The poems collected here are ostensibly about the poet's journey through remote areas of Nepal in order to teach children but in fact, it is about realizing that we are so much more than the sum of our experiences. In a world that is constantly assessing us by external markers and inculcating pride and shame in them, it is important to seek out raw human experiences, complete with their beauty and their cruelty. It is then that we know that our existence is greater than our lives.
