It was a move that set off a nuclear reaction that led to the assassination of Indira Gandhi and chaotic riots that resulted in the massacre of millions of Sikhs throughout the country. In his own words Lt. Gen. Brar details the events leading to that eventful attack and those that took place once his team infiltrated the temple. About K. S. Brar Lieutenant General Kuldip Singh Brar is a former Indian Army officer. He was the commander of Operation Blue Star against Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and Sikh revolutionaries who had amassed weapons in the Golden Temple for the secessionist movement of creating Khalistan. In 1954, Brar joined the Maratha Light Infantry as a lieutenant and commanded an infantry battalion in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. For his services in the war he was awarded the Vir Chakra by the Government of India. He was in charge of the defense of Bhutan and commanded the Eastern Theatre of India for a long period after which he retired.
