he events of 6 December 1992 shook India, and were responsible for the Mumbai blasts of 1993. Against this backdrop of violence, exactly three months later, in the Parliament House Annexure on 6 March 1993 that twenty-two eminent personalities were invited to participate in a seminar organized by Jaswant Singh, to discuss the prevailing issues under an agenda entitled ‘Our Republic: Post 6 December, 1992.’ The maturity and clarity of the views expressed in this seminar are an intellectual tour de force. These were captured on tape and later transcribed. The book and the enclosed CD bring to the reader a voice of reason: unblemished and unedited—that continues to escape many, even today. About the Author Jaswant Singh, born in 1938, is an Indian politician belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has been in charge of Finance, External Affairs and Defence during the NDA regime between 1998 and 2004. He is the former Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission (1998-99).
