The tow major themes of this volume on Perceptual and Cognitive Image of the City are the perception that people have of places and the mental images that are formed from filtered information flows. The study of the cognitive image of the city is a multidisciplinary outlook. It is in urban geography that important ideas have been derived from such subjects as sociology, anthropology, planning, architecture, psychology and ethnology. The geographers have derived information from these disciplines about he mental storage of spatial information, mental map studies and action space studies. The present volume, there form, concerns itself to the process of decision making, choice theory analysis of space reference, spatial learning process, environmental cognition on cognitive mapping. Special emphasis in this volume has been laid on the issue of intra urban migration.
