This book discusses and analyzes nuclear strategies of India and Pakistan and its wider technological ramifications and for the potential of arms race of two nuclear rivals in particular. The theoretical rivals in particular. The theoretical underpinning of the issue of nuclear proliferation and its connection to overall strategic matters including confidence building measures and the Kashmir question pose a challenge as an opportunity for scholars, policy makers and defense study experts. Through an in-depth anslysis and overview of available schoalarly materials, the book attempts to make a compelling case by examining the dynamics and complexities of the nuclear strategies discourse pursued by India and Pakistan and its impact regionally as well as globally. The book is likely to generate immense schoalarly and public debate on issues related to nuclear doctrines of India and Pakistan while discussing broad parameters on the viability of the various confidence building measures, both military as well as non-military, that are currently underway. About the Author Mohammed Badrul Alam is a citizen of India and had his education at a number of institutions including Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha; Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; and Cornell University, New York, USA; from where he earned M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D degrees respectively. He has taught for over a two decades in the United States, Japan and India at various educational institutions. Since January 2006, Dr. Alam has been Professor at the Dept of Political Science, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, India. Dr. Alam is the author of several books including, Constructing South Asian Nuclear Discourse (2007), as well as numerous articles, monographs and books reviews published in international journals. He is a recipient of number of prestigious awards including Fulbright Fellowship, Shastri Canadian Foreing ministry award, DAAD Fellowship, Salzburg Global Fellowship, Baden-Wuerttemberg Fellowship, Visiting Scholar at East-West Center, etc. His research interests include: Nuclear issues in South Asia, US-india relations and the Study of Indian electronics.
