About Noam Chomsky Noam Chomsky was born in Philadelphia in 1928. He obtained his Ph.D. in linguistics. While he was a Junior Fellow at Harvard, he finished his doctoral dissertation on transformational grammar. His major theoretical standpoints of the thesis appeared in the monograph called Syntactic Structures. This shaped a part of his further extensive work, The Logical Structure of Linguistic Theory, published in 1975. Chomsky later taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Some of his notable books are Necessary Illusions: Thought Control in Democratic Societies, The Fateful Triangle, and Gaza in Crisis.
