A portable guide for the primary care of the normal and ill newborn. The book begins with obstetric considerations, continues with examination of the newborn, and moves on to the transitional period from labour and delivery to the maternity ward. The child's body systems are also discussed. Also included in these chapters is the management of various complications, including arrythmias, apnea, seizures or bloody stools. The emphasis throughout is on initial management in the nursery.
