This book examines the patterns and trends of domestic violence in rural and urban areas of Gorakhpur region in Uttar Pradesh, in relation to a number of contextual and psychological variables. Identifying the social factors which provide germane grounds to domestic violence, it explores the role of psychological factors in causing domestic violence. Also, it establishes the linkage between domestic violence and child abuse. The impact of exposure to domestic violence on behavioural functioning of children has been analysed as well.
