Though the impetus for psychoanalytic and group analytic in-patient psychotherapy largely came from Britain, it is in Germany that this work has been supported, developed and researched to a greater extent than elsewhere. In Psychoanalytic Therapy in the Hospital Setting Paul Janssen describes the different models which have been tried and evaluated and explains his own integrative model in detail, illustrating it with vivid clinical vignettes. The author also shows that in-patient groups are particularly effective in the treatment of severe personality disorders, borderline conditions and psychosomatic illness. Not previously available in the English language, this book will be invaluable reading to psychiatrists, psychotherapists, nurses, social workers and anyone working in health care.
