The fifth edition of Pulse, Switching and Digital Circuits is designed for undergraduate students of electrical, electronics and instrumentation engineering courses. Earlier editions of this popular book already feature as one of the main recommended textbooks in courses on pulse and switching circuits of some of the major universities across the world. This edition offers a more comprehensive coverage of the syllabi of various Indian universities. Beginning with the characteristics of pulse waveforms and RC circuits that must be understood before the study of pulse circuitry can commence, the book then covers the operation of diodes, BJTs, FETs and op-amps in switching circuits. This leads to the design and analysis of inverters, Schmitt trigger circuits, multivibrators, IC timer circuits, ramp generators and function generators. Logic gates, logic circuits and IC logic families are also presented. After individual circuits and gates are discussed, they are used as building blocks to explain digital counting, digital frequency meters, analog-to-digital converters and digital-to-analog converters, pulse modulation, time division multiplexing and phase-locked loop. About the Author David A. Bell is a professional engineer who was employed as a circuit design specialist in the electronics industry for many years before becoming a professor at Lambton College of Applied Arts and Technology in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He has written five textbooks in the area of electronics engineering which have been in use in engineering institutions around the world including India.
