Due to historical geopolitical prejudices in the field of Migration Studies, for a long time, the migratory experiences of the Global South have barely received attention. Migration Studies is a new discipline when compared to other Social Sciences, but what is even newer are the voices of the Global South in this steadily emerging discipline. Gradually, universities across the Global South are starting Centre’s for Migration Studies and students from traditional Social Sciences are also exploring migration using social, political, legal and other lenses. This edited volume of research papers is an attempt to add to the growing corpus of migration literature from the Global South, largely authored by scholars from the region. Each paper discusses a unique aspect of migration happening in the countries of the Global South, from the perspective of the Global South itself. These papers explore the ongoing international movement of people based on the latest theories of migration which are network theory, transnationalism and migration systems theory. The papers in this volume explore various aspects such as the Refugee Crises where both the sending and receiving countries are located in the Global South; regular and irregular South to North migration; immigrants’ search of identity and belonging; as well as the need for maintaining proper migration database in the countries of the Global South. The book aims to contribute to the gradually growing voice of migration experiences and patters from the Global South. The book is highly useful for experts, policy makers, scholars and academicians who works on issues related to migration.
