The cost of ever more freguent floods, landslides and erosion on coastal and fluvial structures is considerable. Through more detailed consideration of the risks and their acceptability, the engineering community could make a 5% saving in the whole-life costs of coastal and fluvial engineering projects, amounting to GBP250 million annually in the UK alone.This book sets out to provide clear guidance on the process of setting acceptable risk levels.
