Summary of the Book This is a book on the horrific events that took place in Libya that only a writer who has been close to the action, and experienced it, can notice and write about. The defeat of Muammar Gaddafi has been one of the most defining moments of the twenty-first century. The notorious dictator of the Arab world was brought down by his own people with the help of NATO aircraft. The author, Lindsey Hilsum, was in Libya at the time when Gaddafi was attacked and brought to his end. She has traced his history and the start of his bizarre regime. This observation begins from the time when Gaddafi had his looks and popular appeal to his advantage, to the time of his paranoid and corrupt stages. The highlight of the book is her narration of the people of Libya who overcame their fear and disillusion, and found the strength to rebel. This Libyan revolution was made and lived.
