India's freedom was bargained for with blood, the blood of innocents who were slaughtered following the decision to split the country in a move that would forever change the fates of Indians everywhere. In Savage Harvest, Mohinder Singh Sarna recounts the horrors of that episode in his life, the horrors of the Partition of India. Summary of the Book In this collection of stories from people across the country, readers relive the horrors of a harvest that reaped the blood of their countrymen decades ago. In the stories of a brave father willing to sacrifice his son, or in those of a poet returning to his home across the border to find his books unspoiled by strangers, readers discover both sides of the Partition. Hate takes center-stage, and this book proves that there is nothing to do with religion when it comes to hatred. Instead, religion and culture are what bring people together, those who blame religion and faith for violence do not see the entire story. A story that shows that in a vicious harvest, the blood is usually on the hands of those who held the sickle, not those who forged it. About the Authors Mohinder Singh Sarna was an Indian writer.
