About the Book:In the present world when globalisation has become the rule of the day travel, immigration, and exploration of new lands is no more an ennobling experience. In fact with world gradually turning into a single global village, people are getting restless to trace out their roots and racial-familial identities. Therefore search for identity has become a recurrent theme with the writers apparently. But while dealing with the theme every writer has to face the dichotomy: whether to melt in the melting pot or turn back to the rhizomic root. Quite naturally this leads to a question – how will the writers resolve the dichotomy and basing on what theory? Also, the degree of acculturation remains an enigma. As a result a comparative study between diasporic writers and native novelists showed signs of different approach depending upon their own psychological bend, living conditions and their societal alliance etc. which turn out to be decisive factors in making their choice as relevant elements in identity formation.This book will help readers, especially those researching on the theme. More than theorizing, it attempts to reflect the reality of practice so that even those who are genuinely interested apart from the need to examine on purpose.About the Author:Ms. Kakali Bhattacharyya is an Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities and Management Science in B. P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology, Kolkata, India. She has worked as English faculty in various engineering and management institutes and colleges in Kolkata. She was also an English radio-talker in All India Radio, Kolkata from 1997 to 1999 when she was doing her post-graduation in English from University of Calcutta. She has worked as English faculty in the International Wing of JIS College of Engineering in the ITEC/SCAAP Programme sponsored by the Government of India. Her field of interest includes Indian English Writings, Postcolonial writings etc., in literature.
