A wonderful and concise book for any one who wishes to know about Islam, the Quran, or the Prophet. The selections of the verses were made by the very learned scholar Edward William Lane, who translated the Arabian Nights, in 1843.The edition is divided into 3 parts: The first is a introduction in which copious notes on pre-Islamic Arabic the time of the prophet, the advent of islam and a short notice on the kuran are offered. The next part is Islam. The verses are grouped under distinct headings and the important utterances of the prophet on what his followers must believe and do. The last part consists of observations of Islam on the various other patriarchs prophets, and other personages of Jewish and Christian importance
