Siege Of Mithila carries the story of Ramayana forward, focusing on Rama’s journey to Mithila, as he forges ahead on his mission to bring down Ravana, the lord of the demons. In this book, the author picks up the storyline from its predecessor, The Prince Of Ayodhya, and puts the city of Mithila in the spotlight. The demon hordes have set out towards Ayodhya at the behest of their master, Ravana. They are rapidly gaining ground and razing everything en route. But, the denizens of one city in their path, the city of Mithila, are on a mission of their own to stop the demons from proceeding further. Armed with their own valiance and the support of Rama, the crown prince of Ayodhya, they are all set to rally against the armies of darkness and destruction. Rama might just have an ace secret weapon at his command, but only if fortune is kind enough to favour him. While the narrative centres on the siege at Mithila, the incidents occurring in Ayodhya are also explored in parallel. Banker is an Indian author, and a former freelance journalist and columnist. His novels include Byculla Boy, Murder & Champagne, Gods Of War, The Iron Bra, Ten Dead Admen, and The Missing Parents Mystery. He has created series such as the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, and Krishna Coriolis, which include novels like Demons Of Chitrakut, Rage Of Jarasandha, Prince Of Ayodhya, and Lord Of Mathura. He has also co-created a few television series, and written a non-fictional work called The Valmiki Syndrome. Banker’s writing traverses different genres, covering diverse themes like crime-fiction, mythological retelling, contemporary urban issues, and fantasy. He is considered one of the most prolific authors of post-colonial Indian literature. Ashok K. Banker was born on February 7, 1964, in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. His mixed parentage and upbringing created severe identity issues for him, and have led to many conflicts throughout his life. Due to the adverse conditions at home, he was raised mainly by his maternal grandmother, who encouraged his talent and passion for writing. For several years, he successfully pursued a career as a freelance journalist, columnist, literary critic, and reviewer. He is now focused completely on his writing.
