What do you call Sir M.Visvesvaraya. Do you call him: An Engineer? A Scholar? A Statesman? A Politician? Or a Diwan? No doubt, he fits into all of the above. And for his contributions to the people of India, he was not only knighted as the Knight Commander of British Indian Empire (KCIE) by King George V but also awarded Indian’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna in 1955. It’s no wonder that his birthday, which is on September 15th, is celebrated as Engineer’s Day not just in India, but also in Sri Lanka and Tanzania. A must read for all engineers and would be engineering students from India and abroad to know about the contributions of India’s most incredible engineer, Sir M.Visvesvaraya.
