Ashok Banker continues the Ramayana series with the tale of Rama’s sons, the mighty Sons of Sita in this epic retelling of Indian mythology. Summary of the Book Rama has done the unthinkable. He has banished his beloved Sita to the forests, where she lives with the sage Valmiki. Rama pines away for Sita, but he cannot ignore his duties to his people as their king. The years pass and he decides to hold a great yagna to commemorate his victorious reign. The Ashwamedha Yagna is a grand festival, where the organizer releases a mighty horse that runs free. All the land covered by the horse is declared to belong to the organizer, and those who stop the creature will have invited his wrath upon them. As the horse races through the woods of Ayodhya, it encounters two young boys who stop it in its path. They refuse to listen to Rama’s brothers who ask them to release the horse or risk war with Rama himself. However, the boys are obstinate in their stance. The mighty Rama comes to them to wage war, but he is yet to realize that these brave and tenacious boys are none other than his sons, the sons Sita bore him in the forest during her exile. Can Rama recognize his heirs in time to stop the battle or will he destroy his legacy with his own hands? About Ashok Banker Ashok Kumar Banker is an Indian writer.
