Sri Ramakrishna: The Face Of Silence is a volume comprising two biographies of Sri Ramakrishna written by two different authors.  Summary Of The Book The great spiritual adventurer Sri Ramakrishna is known as the harbinger of creating harmony among different religions. He had an all-embracing God-consciousness that didn’t rely on any religious dogma. Sri Ramakrishna: The Face Of Silence brings together two eternal biographies which are Dhan Gopal Mukerji’s The Face of Silence that was published in 1926 and Swami Nikhilananda’s Sri Ramakrishna that was published in 1942. It is believed that the systems of Indian religious thought are closely associated with Sri Ramakrishna and this volume highlights this fact. The first book in the volume is Swami Nikhilananda's Sri Ramakrishna that provides the biography of this Great Master. In Nikhilananda's book, readers get to know about the humble and modest nature of Sri Ramakrishna through incidents where he treated even a fallen woman as a manifestation of the Divine Mother. The book portrays that Sri Ramakrishna’s consciousness for God was "vivid, direct, and dynamic”. The second book is Dhan Gopal Mukerji’s The Face of Silence that explores the legend called Ramakrishna and deals with the effect he had on his disciples. Sri Ramakrishna: The Face Of Silence combines history and memory, and fact with legend. This masterpiece comes with a unique introduction by Swami Adiswarananda wherein he discusses Sri Ramakrishna’s God-consciousness. Swami Adiswarananda in the introduction describes Sri Ramakrishna as an unknown temple priest longing for a direct vision of a living God, a messenger of the common goals of different religions, and a spiritual personality who believed that God’s presence was everywhere. Sri Ramakrishna renounced wealth for the one goal in his life – to see every living being as the absolute God. The two biographies in this book share some of the impressions that people close to Sri Ramakrishna had about him.
