The included titles are: Monkey Stories, Deer Stories, Elephant Stories, Bird Stories and Jackal Stories. The Jatakas are a collection of stories which showcase the previous lives of the Buddha. These stories impart wisdom in a wide variety of topics, teaching children the morals of life through simple scenarios involving animals. In Monkey Stories, these seemingly simple creatures manage to outwit the most cunning of kings and the most cruel crocodiles. Each of these creatures portrays a certain attribute usually associated with humans. Through their actions and troubles, the Buddha shows that there is much to be learnt from the creatures around us. About Anant Pai Anant Pai was the former editor of Amar Chitra Katha. He is best known for pioneering Indian comics and creating Amar Chitra Katha and Tinkle magazine. Uncle Pai, as his fans call him, received much acclaim for his work, including the Yudhvir Memorial Award in Hyderabad, Maharashtra Rajya Hindi Sahitya Academy Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award – at the First Indian Comic Convention, New Delhi.
