"A collection of short stories, Tales of Unrest explores the adventures of the colonial times and European imperialism. There are five short stories set in various lands, including Africa, infused with irony and mockery. The tales of Western traders and their treatment of the indigenous people of the lands they visited are expressed in an unforgiving manner. Tales of Unrest by Joseph Conrad was published in 1898, originally, with four of the five stories having already been published in magazines. This became the first of Conrad’s published collection of short stories."
