Summary of the Book The Broken Ear When a fetish created by the Arumbaya tribe of South America is stolen from the Museum of Ethnography at Brussels, only to be returned the next day, Tintin is sent to investigate the mystery. The replacement is clearly a fake. A local sculptor has been murdered and the murder looks like it has a connection to the theft. The only witness to the murder is the sculptor’s parrot, and it is currently in the hands of two men who are out to kill anyone who is looking into the crime. Can Tintin retrieve the original fetish? The Black Lotus When Tintin finds a wayward plane stranded in the Belgian countryside, he offers to help the pilot. However, the pilot doesn’t want help and he shoots Tintin, who wakes up later in a hospital with Thomson and Thompson by his side. They tell him that the plane flew to Sussex after the pilot shot him, and crashed there. Tintin gets on the case and discovers that there is a lot more to this mystery than meets the eye. King Ottokar’s Sceptre When Tintin finds a briefcase in a Belgian park, he finds its owner and returns it to him. The owner is none other than the sigillographer Professor Hector Alembick who tells Tintin that he plans to travel to Syldavia, the Balkan nation. However, Tintin discovers that there are mysterious agents watching the professor and he follows them to a nearby Syldavian restaurant. A man who agrees to rendezvous with Tintin is found unconscious and soon the young reporter discovers that something big is about to happen and the professor might be at the very epicentre of it.
