The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, authored by Junot Diaz, is a Pulitzer Prize winning fiction. Summary of the Book The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is a story set in New Jersey. Oscar Wao is a ghetto nerd – an overweight Dominican boy. He is fanatical about fantasy novels, science fiction and the endearing idea of falling in love. But a curse has been troubling his family for generations. The book unravels the rest of the tale, with a contemplative way of story-telling, bringing out the Dominican movement, masculinity, identity and oppression. A must read for fiction aficionados. The book has also won the National Book Critics Circle Award. About Junot Diaz Junot Diaz is a renowned Dominican-American novelist and writer. He is a Creative Writing professor at the most reputed Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also associated with the Board of Advisers for Freedom and with Boston Review as the Fiction Editor. Diaz is a 2012 MacArthur Fellow who won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2008 for his novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. Some of his other literary works include Monstro; Drown; This is How You Lose Her; Summer Love, Overheated; and Homecoming, with Turtle. He is also the recipient of the 2002 PEN/Faulkner Award.
