A political treatise on the current world situation, The Great Convergence presents an argument for one government, and globalized power. Summary of the Book In today's world, all nations are facing imminent and rapid westernization. Despite the reasons behind this, the writer argues that the world has no option but to embrace it, and must move forward with new policies. The old government systems will not work, he believes. Power needs to be shared equally, requiring a redistribution of power across the nations. The United States needs to cede power, and China, India, Africa and the Middle-East need to come up to meet the necessity of the day. National Interests need to be realigned with global interests, policies need to be rethought to fit in the global picture. About Kishore Mahbubani Kishore Mahbubani is Professor in the Practice of Public Policy and Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. He has also written: Can Asians Think?
