Jain, an architect-town planner, is on the Advisory Board of the UN-Habitat (HS-Net). He studied at Delhi School of Planning and Architecture, Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam, and University of Birmingham. He is on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Environmental Studies (UK). As Commissioner (Planning) of Delhi Development Authority (DDA), he worked on the Master Plan for Delhi 2021, National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy (2007) and National Urban Transport Policy (2006). He is a visiting faculty at Delhi School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. He has to his credit many books including Space for Shopping: Planning and Design for Trade and Commerce, Urban Housing and Slums, and Urban Land Policy and Public-Private Partnership for Real Estate & Infrastructure Projects.
