Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a Scottish author who is famous for creating the character of the famous sleuth, Sherlock Holmes. Conan Doyle introduces a new protagonist, Professor Challenger, in his adventure novel, 'The Lost World'. The novel tells the story of an expedition to a remote plateau on the Amazon in South America. Professor Challenger leads a team of explorers and hunters to prove the existence of dinosaurs. What he finds there makes for an exciting page-turner.
