At the turn of the present century, the postcolonial Indian writers made daring experiments by creating a new language and idiom as a medium of expression. They redefined the Indian English fiction with a native colour by finding their sources and genealogy in Indian traditional narrative forms and in their roots to give the world a glimpse of India and its heritage in the post-modern era. They initiated a movement called Nativism to free Indian literary criticism from the shackles of euro-centric hegemony. This book discusses Vikram Seth’s A Suitable Boy, Shashi Tharoor’s The Great Indian Novel and Rukun Advani’s Beethoven among the Cows from this perspective.
