About Homer Homer was a Greek poet and writer, considered to be the composer of the Trojan Epics, including the Illiad and the Odyssey. Most of his work is lost, and his identity and existence are the topics of much dispute. He is believed to have lived around 850 BCE. The Odyssey has been adapted several times into films, has inspired other works and songs. It is considered to have inspired the entire genre of epic story-telling and is considered one of the world’s earliest and greatest classics.
