About The Book: An influential biographical dictionary known as the Oriental Biographical Dictionary, originally titled The Oriental Biographical Dictionary, was authored by Thomas William Beale. This dictionary encompassed the lives of notable individuals from the Islamic, Persian, and Indian realms. It was published posthumously by The Asiatic Society of Bengal in 1881. Later, an updated and expanded edition was released in London by W. H. Allen in 1894. Henry George Keene CIE (1826–1915) was an English historian specializing in the study of medieval and modern India. He served in the Bengal Civil Service from 1847 to 1882, with his notable role as Superintendent at Dehra Doon during the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
