A prelude to the greatest story ever told, The Story of the Jews: Finding the Words, is the historical account of the race which has influenced the world in many ways, setting the stage for the development of three of the world's greatest religions. Summary of the Book A story of war, conflict, slavery and destruction, the story of the Judaic race has influenced people all over the world. Their story spans millennia and continents, covering India and Andulasia, travelling from the streets of Cairo to the pavements of Oxford. An engaging account, this book influenced the TV series of the same name, and has been considered as one of the most honest account of the history of the Jews and reveals several details which are left out in others. Professing his view that the Bible covers only a part of their story, Simon Schama goes on to explain that their portrayal in religion has often been one-sided and often fictional. The first of two planned books, this title sides hard evidence with the facts and explains how the Jews have evolved as a race from 1000 BCE to 1492 CE, telling the tale of the Jews' search for a land, and asks the question of whether the Jews were ever really in Egypt, contesting the story of the Passover. An authoritative book, it will serve as an eye-opener to every history buff.
