The book is a collection of twenty-five published and unpublished short stories. The major issues in contemporary Indian society, like misdeeds of the so-called ‘dharam gurus’, corruption in Indian society, exploitation of women, strained marital relationships, social constraints, social customs, individual inhibitions and emotions, etc. have been taken up as themes in the stories. However, ‘family’ is the main theme with some strong-willed and determined female characters playing a major role. Some of the stories complement each other. Each story conveys a message. The stories have been written in simple language and lucid manner and make highly interesting reading. The dialogues are crisp while the situations are normal like the ones encountered in homes, offices and social circles in India. The stories will appeal to common readers many of whom would identify themselves with one character or the other.
