Reading recovery is big news at the moment. Government is investing large sums in one scheme from New Zealand which is costly in time and resouces. This is much more practical in the ordinary classroom and has been shown to work. Primary schools very often have volunteer parents coming in to help with reading. This scheme makes full use of them.
