He completed his undergraduate as well as his PhD in fundamental particle theory at the same university. In 1956, he went on to join Carnegie Mellon as lecturer. The author has worked extensively on undergraduate education and has written a number of textbooks. Some of his books are Sears and Zemansky’s University Physics: Mechanics (Volume I), University Physics with Modern Physics [With Access Code], College Physics. Hugh D. Young, and Sears & Zemansky's College Physics. Young enjoys hiking, climbing and skiing. He often travels with his wife to southern Utah and Europe. Roger A. Freedman did his undergraduate studies from University of California campuses in Los Angeles and San Diego. He completed his Phd. from Stanford University. In 1981, he joined as a lecturer in the Physics Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His work focuses on nuclear, elementary particle and laser physics. He has also developed a computer tool that helps in learning about introductory physics and astronomy. His books include Universe, Student Study Guide for University Physics Volume 1 (CHS 1-20), Universe: The Solar System, and Investigating Astronomy: A Conceptual View of the Universe.
