Until My Freedom Has Come: The New Intifada in Kashmir, edited by Sanjay Kak, is a collection of essays covering a wide spectrum of issues that prevail in Kashmir even today. The summer of 2010 is remembered as a defining moment in the history of Kashmir, as a new generation came down to the streets to protest against the encounter killings of civilians. This protest is famously known as Kashmir’s Intifada, or Kashmir's resistance, which caused a paradigm shift from armed militancy to mass rebellion. Moreover, this rebellion was accompanied by a remarkable revolution in the writing on Kashmir. The essays collected for Until My Freedom Has Come have been penned by artists, academics, and journalists. About Sanjay Kak Sanjay Kak is an Indian documentary filmmaker, who is famously known for his documentary films: In the Forest Hangs a Bridge, A House and a Home, Jashn-e-Azadi, and One Weapon. Sanjay was born in 1958 in Pune. He studied Sociology and Economics at St Stephen’s College and the Delhi School of Economics. He works with Delhi Film Archive. Sanjay lives in New Delhi, and is active in the Campaign against Censorship in India.
