Providing rural households access to financial services, particularly credit, has been a priority agenda of the Government of India since Independence. Despite having a wide network of rural branches of different banks, a large number of rural population still remain outside the fold of financial services. This book provides an insight into the ground level situation pertaining to availing of financial services by the village households in Andhra Pradesh. Taking a close look at the government policy towards financial services to rural households, it identifies the financial needs of the village households and evaluates the availing of financial services by them. The sources for meeting the financial needs of village households have also been analysed. About the Author S.V. Satyanarayana is the Professor in the Department of Commerce, Osmania University. He was the Officer on Special Duty to Vice-Chancellor of the University till recently. Also Prof. Satyanarayana was associated with Research and Monitoring Wing for Essential Commodities of Government of Andhra Pradesh which was established to advise the government in stabilizing the prices of essential commodities. He has to his credit five books and 25 articles published in national and international journals of repute. P. Raveender obtained Post-Graduate and Ph.D. degree from Osmania University in 1982 and 2008, respectively. He joined KNM Degree College, Miriyalguda, Andhra Pradesh in 1983 as Lecturer in Commerce. He has been empaneled as Financial Education Resource Person by SEBI. He has authored text books at Under-Graduation level for Telugu Academy and also for some reputed publishers.
