This book recounts the travels and correspondence of various English travellers to India and the east. Recounted in this book are the extracts of merchants, who travelled with the patronage of the East India company, and maintained contact with them and others who were present in India as factors in Surat and Ajmer. The travels covered were undertaken between the years 1612 and 1616 The travellers covered are Thomas Best, Ralph Standish, Ralph Croft, Nathaniel Salmon, Robert Bonner, Patrick Copland, Nicholas Withington and Bocarro. The letters they wrote were primarily addressed to Thomas Smythe, the governor of the East India company and Thomas Roe among others.
