Stories bind us together and connect us to our common traditions, legends, and universal truths. Our emotions are stirred by stories. We share our excitement, problems, sorrow, and joy. They improve our comprehension and empathy. In this day and age, storytelling may appear to be an antiquated tool. It is, however, no less potent. People can be persuaded by information, but they are not inspired by it. Data does not provide a common understanding, experience, or purpose. Because we learn best from emotional stories, the most effective leaders...the most effective advertising...the most effective art...even the most effective relationships embrace stories.
