In this book, the author, Jacqueline Rose, tells us how three women gave feminism a whole new meaning. These three visionaries have faced their fair share of difficulties in their public and private lives, and have shared their inspirational stories. Summary of the Book The three heroines in this book: Rosa Luxemburg, Charlotte Salomon, and Marilyn Monroe, are not very different from each other in terms of the battles that they fought in their lifetime. They fought bravely against the injustice that was meted out to people during that time. Rose disagrees that feminism has done its work and we are still struggling to maintain justice to this day. The women of today are still fighting many cruel realities that have existed for a very long time. This book urges us to take a look at what we should be seeing and what we do not want to see.  About Jacqueline Rose Jacqueline Rose is a British academic and Professor of English at Queen Mary, University of London. Her book, Albertine, is a feminist variation on Marcel Proust’s À la recherche du temps perdu. Rose is known for her work on the relationship between psychoanalysis, feminism and literature.
