Writing That Works: How to Communicate Effectively in Business by Kenneth Roman and Joel Raphaelson, is the quintessential guide to effective communication through business writing. Summary Of The Book Being able to say exactly what we mean is so important in our everyday lives, and more so in business. Our words determine actions and outcomes, and in the business world, most of these words are in writing. Unfortunately, it today’s business environment, the quality of communication is given very little importance. Vice presidents of over 200 major companies agree that about one-third of all business writing they encounter is unclear, poorly written, or confusing. This being the case, employees across the world are now realizing the importance of effective business writing. And for anyone interested in mastering the art of writing what they mean, Writing That Works: How to Communicate Effectively in Business is, by far, the best tool available. Writing That Works: How to Communicate Effectively in Business is concise, direct, and yet, incredibly comprehensive. It includes advice on how to write good and effective emails, memos, letters, plans, proposals, reports, and presentations. It also talks about how one can write successful resumes and speeches. The book comes with a good number of relevant examples for both, the dos and don’ts of business writing, and even includes advice on political correctness and tips for editing.
