The Little Prince, first published in April 1943, is the most famous work of French aristocrat, writer, poet, and pioneering Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The narrator, an airplane pilot, crashes in the Sahara desert. Here, he meets a small man whom he calls the little prince. Little prince narrates various tales about his home such as a little asteroid with three volcanoes and different plants. He also tells the narrator about his journeys to different asteroids ruled by strange conceited men. Few stories are as widely read and as universally cherished by children and adults alike as The Little Prince. It has become one of the best selling books ever published with total sales of over one forty million worldwide. Antoine De Saint-Exupery (1900-1944) was born in Lyon, France. Best known as the author and illustrator of The Little Prince, he also wrote several other books that became classics. A year after 'The Little Prince' was published his plane disappeared over the Mediterranean while he was serving with a French air squadron on a reconnaissance mission.
